AN ALPINE ADVENTURE
25 Aug - 4 Sept 2017
Overview & Rough Itinerary
If you love riding mountain passes, then this is the tour for you. We take the very best elements from both our Swiss Alps tour and our Austria tour, and combine them into a fantastic 11 day Alpine Adventure!
Following an early start in Folkestone, the first day of our tour sees us ride through the Nord-Pas-De-Calais and Champagne regions of France where we will spend our first night. Following a hearty breakfast, we then make our way to the Vosge Mountains where we will spend the next day and a half riding glorious roads that are all too often overlooked, including the Col du Ballon and the Route des Cretes.
We then head into Switzerland where the Alps become our playground for the next three days. Our tour takes in a number of passes, including the well-known Grimsel, Susten and Furka, as well as the San Gotthard and Neufenen passes. We will also provide you with suggested routes if any of you would like to break away from the pack for a few hours!
From Switzerland, we travel east into Austria via the San Bernardino and Fluela passes, and make our way to Prutz where we will be based for a few days, perfectly placed to ride various Tyrolian passes including the Timmelsjoch, and Jaufenpass as well as the Kaunertal Glacier Road. From Prutz, we then head towards Kaprun via the Gerlos Pass where we get to spend the afternoon on the mighty Grossglockner High Alpine Road before heading to Vienna where we catch the overnight Motorail to Düsseldorf before making our way back to Calais, and home.
We have handpicked a number of fantasitc routes through these unspoilt French mountains which should sufficiently whet your appetite for what's still to come throughout the rest of the week.

The Important Stuff
Breakdowns are a sad fact of motorcycle touring and often we can get bikes back up and running between us, but due to the level of mileage and nature of this tour, it is a requirement that you hold European Breakdown Cover so that you can be prompty recovered where required. This is for your benefit, as much as it is for everyone elses.
Travel Insurance inc. Motorcycling
Again, due to the nature of this tour, it is a requirement that you hold suitable travel insurance which covers you for motorcycle riding on the appropriate sized bike.
Stating the obvious here, but riding 1,300 miles over a week is hard work and something you may need to prepare for. We will provide tips in our pre-tour pack!
